Dates: November 5 (Wed) – November 7 (Fri), 2026
Venue: Tokyo (To Be Announced)
Research Areas: HIV, viral hepatitis, HTLV-1, COVID-19,
and other emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases
Main Program: Research presentations, one-to-one meetings, early-career researcher development programs
About the symposium
Japan and France are at the forefront of research on infectious diseases and vaccine development. The objective of this symposium is to convene experts from Japan and France across a broad range of scientific disciplines within basic research on HIV/AIDS and infectious diseases, in order to present new findings, advance scientific knowledge and enhance global scientific collaborations.
Results from ongoing collaborative studies between France and Japan will be highlighted, and a particular effort will be given to involve young investigators interested in reinforcing existing or future potential collaborations between both countries. Sessions will cover cross-sectional research topics including virology, structural biology, genomics, immune responses, animal models, and vaccine and immunotherapy development, focusing on pathogens such as HIV, hepatitis viruses, respiratory viruses (SARS-CoV-2, influenza), HTLV-1, herpesviruses, and others. The program will also feature presentations by leading experts in cutting-edge technologies that can be applied to infectious disease research. The symposium will bring together 30 internationally acclaimed scientists and 10 young investigators from France and Japan, followed by one-to-one meetings aimed at strengthening bilateral collaborations.
Call for abstracts for young researchers
We are inviting young investigators (PhD students, postdoctoral fellows, and junior faculty members) who are developing or interested in developing collaborative research projects with the partner country to participate and present their work orally during the meeting.
Submitted abstracts will be evaluated according to the applicants’ career stage.
Registration
To be announced
Registration is free but mandatory to attend the symposium (symposium held on site only).
